Ayurveda for Skin Conditions: Eczema, Psoriasis and Beyond

Chronic Conditions · 6 min read · Updated 2026-07-24

Ayurveda has always treated the skin as a window into internal balance. Rather than focusing only on creams and the surface, it links many chronic skin conditions — including patterns resembling eczema and psoriasis — to aggravated Pitta, disturbed Rakta (blood tissue), and accumulated toxins, and works to address those from within.

Important: Skin conditions vary widely and can need medical diagnosis and treatment. Ayurvedic support works best alongside a dermatologist's care, especially for severe or spreading conditions.

Inside-out thinking

Because Ayurveda connects skin health to digestion, blood, and heat in the body, its plans emphasise cooling and cleansing internally as much as soothing externally. The idea is that calming the internal imbalance reduces what shows up on the skin.

Where therapies may fit

Diet and triggers

Ayurveda pays close attention to foods and habits that increase heat and toxins — very spicy, fermented, or overly processed foods, and irregular eating. Favouring cooling, fresh, easily digested meals and managing stress (a common flare trigger) are part of the plan.

Patience and consistency

Skin responds slowly, so Ayurvedic support emphasises steady, consistent care rather than quick fixes. Keep any prescribed treatment and get proper diagnosis for new or severe changes.

Individualised skin support

At Aara, skin-support plans are built around your constitution and the nature of your condition, and coordinated with your medical care. A consultation is the starting point.
